San Marcos has always been known for its strong sense of community, and nowhere is that spirit more alive than in our mobile home parks. At the heart of these communities are our senior residents—neighbors who have built rich lives here and continue to shape the culture, care, and character of San Marcos.
The Value of Senior Communities
Our mobile home parks provide more than just a roof over our heads—they offer connection, safety, and dignity. Whether it’s morning walks with friends or evening games in the clubhouse, these parks offer a rhythm of life rooted in fellowship. Seniors aren’t isolated here—they’re empowered community anchors, sharing stories, traditions, and support.
Programs Designed to Support Seniors
At the San Marcos Mobilehome Residents Association (SMMRA), we’re developing programs to protect, promote, and enhance the lives of our senior residents:
Protection: Advocating to ensure seniors can live securely without fear of displacement or unfair treatment.
Promotion: Showcasing the value our parks bring to San Marcos, highlighting how they keep the city diverse, welcoming, and connected.
Enhancement: From health workshops and fitness classes to social outings like SMMRA Live Well and SMMRAdventures™, we aim to enrich every day.
A Place for Connection
Our parks are more than housing—they’re home. Potluck dinners, holiday events, movie nights, and morning coffee gatherings bring joy, comfort, and a sense of belonging.
As San Marcos grows, our seniors’ voices remind us of the importance of stability, respect, and shared history. By supporting those who helped shape our community, we strengthen the foundation for all.
Resident Recipe Spotlight: Quinoa & Black Bean Salad

A heart-healthy, easy-to-make dish that’s perfect for community potlucks or solo lunches:
Ingredients:
1 cup cooked quinoa
1 cup black beans (rinsed and drained)
1 red bell pepper, diced
¼ cup chopped cilantro
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Combine quinoa, black beans, bell pepper, and cilantro in a bowl.
Whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
Pour dressing over the salad and toss. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
Why it’s great for seniors: Quinoa is a fiber-rich grain that supports healthy blood sugar levels, and black beans offer cholesterol-lowering benefits—making this both nutritious and flavorful.
